Sleeping in Doolin

$$ Harbour View B&B offers six rooms in a fine modern house overlooking the coast a mile from the Doolin fiddles. Amy Lindner keeps the place immaculate (on main road halfway between Lisdoonvarna and Cliffs of Moher, next to Aran View Market and gas station, tel. 065/707-4154, www.harbourviewdoolin.com, [email protected]).

$$ Half Door B&B is the coziest place around, with six woody rooms and a pleasant sun porch. It’s just a short walk from the best pubs in the Upper Village (cash only, family rooms, a keg’s roll from McDermott’s pub, tel. 065/707-5959, www.halfdoordoolin.com, [email protected]).

$ The Lodge Doolin is a modern compound of four stone buildings with 21 bright, airy, good-value rooms (located halfway between Upper and Lower Villages, tel. 065/707-4888, www.doolinlodge.com, [email protected]). The lodge offers laundry service.

¢ Doolin Inn & Hostel, right in Doolin’s Lower Village, caters creatively to the needs of backpackers in town for the music. Friendly Anthony and Dierdre are on top of the local scene. The upper house has the Inn, which offers good-value double rooms and a café. The lower house across the road is the hostel (mobile 087-282-0587, www.doolinhostel.ie, [email protected]).
